A landslide partially blocked the Chaulani River in the Bhatar zone, in Darchula district, Nepal, this Friday. The river blockage was caused by the accumulation of earth and debris from the landslide, which restricted the normal flow of water.
Nepalese authorities issued alerts for populations in areas near the Chaulani River. Residents were asked to remain alert and prepared for a possible evacuation, due to the high risk of flash floods.
Darchula district is located in the northeastern region of Nepal, along the border with India. This area of the country is particularly vulnerable to geological phenomena such as landslides, especially during the monsoon season.
