The Portuguese MEP Hélder Sousa Silva advocates that creators and rights holders should be able to know if their works were used to train or feed Artificial Intelligence models. This demand for transparency arises in the context of recent technological developments in the AI field.
Sousa Silva brought together in Brussels more than 30 entities from the cultural and creative sectors to discuss this issue. The hearing took place at the European Parliament and was attended by representatives from various areas, including the music and audiovisual sectors.
The MEP believes there is an urgent need to ensure that authors and rights holders can have access to clear information about the use of their works in training Artificial Intelligence systems, thus ensuring greater protection for European creative sectors.
