A group of state deputies from Santa Catarina affiliated with Progressistas (PP) signed a document requesting the removal from the air of the free electoral time commercials with images of former mayor of Chapecó João Rodrigues (PSD), who is running for governor of Santa Catarina as an opponent of Governor Jorginho Mello (PL-SC).
The document was addressed to Senator Esperidião Amin (PP), who chairs the party's state directory and is part of Rodrigues's majoritarian coalition as a candidate for re-election to the Senate.
Signed by 17 of the 29 candidates for the Chamber of Deputies and the State Legislative Assembly of the party, the document states that the recorded programs were altered without prior authorization for the inclusion of images and symbols of Rodrigues and his chosen vice, state deputy Antídio Lunelli (MDB).
The situation reveals an internal conflict between allies of Jorginho Mello and the state leadership of PP, which decided to support Rodrigues's candidacy for governor of Santa Catarina.
