The Évora Football Association celebrated on September 4th a century of existence, at a gala held at Évora Hotel that brought together various entities connected to national football. The event, conceived as a moment of celebration, recognition, and tribute, marked not only the longevity of the institution but also the journey of thousands of people who, over 100 years, contributed to the growth of football and sport in the region.

Over a century, the AFE took on a role that far exceeded the organization and promotion of football competitions. The institution highlighted the contribution of clubs, directors, players, coaches, and referees, successive generations that helped consolidate football as one of the main sports modalities in the Alentejo region.

The presence of the main institutional figures of Portuguese football at the gala constituted a recognition of the journey undertaken by the AFE. Among the guests was Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, and Reinaldo Teixeira, President of Liga Portugal, among other entities, which reflects the importance that district associations have in the organization and development of national football.

The centenary is described as more than a milestone, representing the recognition of 100 years of dedication to football, to clubs and to people, as well as a journey of sporting development that accompanied the social evolution of the district of Évora.
