Without bridges, a metal cage became the only passage over the Trishuli river after floods in Nepal

SIC Notícias4 September 2026 at 21:21

The floods in Nepal destroyed more than 30 bridges, leaving several communities isolated. In the Trishuli region, the inhabitants lost all conventional crossing options over the river.

With the bridges destroyed, an improvised metal cage became the only passage available for residents to cross the Trishuli. The structure, which was not designed for this purpose, began to be used as a means of transport over the waters.

The situation directly affects the local population, who depend on this precarious solution to get around and access basic services. The severity of the destruction highlights the extent of the damage caused by the floods in the region.

The information was collected by SIC through its international partner, the British television station Sky News.
