The Coimbra Pumping Station – Carlos Fiolhais Library will have a new restaurant space. Águas de Coimbra has granted the commercial exploitation rights for this space, which will be transformed into a café with an Italian flavor.
The new establishment will be built along the Mondego River, in an infrastructure that combines the historical function of water pumping with a cultural space. The Carlos Fiolhais Library, integrated into this pumping station, will continue to operate as a municipal library.
The concession was awarded by Águas de Coimbra, the company responsible for managing the city's water and sanitation system. The space represents an added value for the riverside area of Coimbra, revitalizing an area along the Mondego River with a differentiated restaurant offering.
