Of the 11,693 students enrolled on the first day of the special secondary education exams, only 4,920 attended the tests, according to data released by the Ministry of Education. The majority of enrolled students were absent from the exam held on this first day of the special season.
The special season began on Thursday with Portuguese exams, which recorded the highest number of enrolments, totalling 9,492 students. In addition to this subject, exams were also taking place in Economics A, with 1,688 enrolled students, History of Culture and Arts, with 441 enrolments, Portuguese Literature, with 67 students, Portuguese as a Non-Native Language, with 3 enrolments, and Latin A, with only one student enrolled.
This special season was created to give students who were unable to take their exams during the regular season or who wished to improve their grades the opportunity to do so. The Ministry of Education closely monitored the uptake of this extraordinary assessment phase.
