Madeira seeks to add a fourth distinction to its history in the 7 Wonders of Portugal. Seven heritage sites from the archipelago enter tomorrow, on September 5, in the National semi-finals of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal, which will be held at the National Palace of Sintra.
In this race, the current 49 competitors will be reduced to 21 finalists. The Region arrives at this phase represented by one candidate in each of the seven categories of the contest.
Among the Madeiran candidates is the Forte de Nossa Senhora do Amparo, located in Machico, which competes in the Castles category. This historic fort represents one of the seven monuments from the Autonomous Region of Madeira participating in this national competition.
