The Belgian prime minister, Bart De Wever, arrived in India for an official visit. During the trip, a chocolate sculpture he was carrying to offer to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, was damaged.
The piece in question was a replica of the India Gate in New Delhi, made of Belgian chocolate. The gift did not survive air transport and partially fell apart during the journey.
On Thursday, during a press conference alongside Modi, De Wever promised that a replacement would reach the Indian leader "intact." The Belgian prime minister joked about the reference to the film Forrest Gump, comparing the diplomatic protocol to a box of chocolates, where you never know what you're going to get.
