Cegid Portugal results from the combination of two technology companies specializing in business management solutions, first the Primavera group and then PHC, in 2025, recording a turnover of 85 million euros in the last year. The billing of the company's clients in Portugal is equivalent to half of the national GDP. Paulo Carvalho took on the role of general manager of Cegid in Portugal and Africa exactly one year ago, in the midst of the integration of PHC Business Software, leading a team of 700 workers and a network of more than 500 partners in Portugal, with operations also in Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
The company set a goal to grow 10% in 2026, a year of momentum for the adoption of artificial intelligence in organizations. Among Cegid's clients, one of the original signatories of the European Union AI Pact, AI adoption grew 128% in the last six months. Paulo Carvalho states that the company's mission is to bring AI to the daily management of companies, making it a priority area of investment and focus, with the goal of bringing technology to as many companies as possible, especially SMEs.
Today, 75% of Cegid's clients work in the cloud and subscription model called 'Evolution', with the company expecting that by the end of next year all clients will be on this offering, both in Primavera and PHC. The company has 50 thousand contracts, a number that rises to 90 thousand if products aimed at micro-enterprises and accountants are included, 300 thousand users and two million salaries processed monthly on its platforms. The company's AI framework, called Cegid Pulse, had a large part of its foundation built in Portugal.
In the last four years, the European technology group, which billed more than one billion euros globally in 2025, made more than 30 acquisitions. When questioned about possible new acquisitions in Portugal, Paulo Carvalho stated that the group's DNA is exactly that and that Portugal is an absolutely strategic market for Cegid, always watching the market and what can add value.
