The Football Association of Viana do Castelo will organize the Sub-23 District Cup, a competition that will serve to determine the district's representative in the new national competition created by the Portuguese Football Federation, the National Sub-23 Cup. This initiative aims to strengthen the development of young players and create new competitive opportunities for athletes in this age group.
The winning team of the AFVC Sub-23 District Cup will guarantee participation in the National Sub-23 Cup, whose conquest will give access to the Revelation Cup, a competition played with clubs from the Revelation League.
Athletes born up to 2004, inclusive, U-19 (2008 and 2009), with medical examination for higher category, and U-17 (2010 and 2011), with overclassification examination may participate.
The district competition will take place without interfering with the senior and U-19 district championships, with its format depending on the number of registered teams. The weekly newspaper Alto Minho reported this initiative.
