Palmela is celebrating the Harvest Festival, an event that runs until September 8. The festival is dedicated to the wine-growing tradition of the region and marks the harvest period.
The opening ceremony took place on August 3, the date that marked the official start of the festivities. During the event, the symbolic cutting of the grape bunch was held, a traditional ritual that symbolizes the beginning of the harvest.
The Harvest Queen 2026, Catarina Almeida, was responsible for cutting the symbolic grape bunch. This moment represents the tradition and cultural importance of the harvest for the local community.
The ceremony featured the presence of representatives from various areas of society, including civil, military, religious and associative movement representatives, as well as local population. The event was reported by Olhares de Lisboa.
