The United Nations regretted the death of more than 80 people on a drifting vessel south of the Spanish archipelago of the Canary Islands, describing the incident as a "tragic story". The UN highlighted the "extreme" risks faced by some migrants during sea crossings.

The spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, made these statements during the organization's daily press briefing. Dujarric stated that "there are many stories of migrants who died at sea" and considered it important not to forget them.

The UN's thoughts are with the survivors of the tragedy and with the families who are still waiting for news about their loved ones. The incident underscores the dangers of Atlantic migration routes, which continue to claim numerous lives.

The main equipment includes air defense systems, drones, radars, and precision artillery. In addition to commercial transactions, the countries signed a "joint military work plan" that includes permanent dialogue structures between the armies, joint industrial projects, and joint military maneuvers to face emerging threats.
