Teacher Giulia Silva de Araújo, 26 years old, died after seeking medical care twice on the same day. She had been approved in a public competition for History teacher in the state school system of Rio de Janeiro and was waiting for her appointment to start teaching.
Giulia was awarded by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) for her Course Conclusion Paper in the area of Special Education and Innovation. The paper had History teaching as its theme. The course completion ceremony takes place this Saturday (5), and the group responsible for the TCC will make the presentation at 3 PM.
The achievement comes a few days after Giulia's death and is received by the family with emotion and sadness. According to her sister, Fabiane Bezerra, Giulia already knew she had been awarded, but was preparing a surprise for her family members.
Fabiane says her sister was not very fond of parties and even refused to attend her own graduation. Her sister believes the work must have been something wonderful, since Giulia didn't like parties and didn't want to have a graduation ceremony, despite her mother's insistence.
