Confagri, the confederation of agricultural cooperatives, addressed a request to the Portuguese Government regarding measures for the agricultural sector. The organization defended the need for balanced competition between Portugal and Spain with regard to fuel and energy prices.
The confederation also requested a strong Agricultural Policy that meets the needs of the sector. This request comes in a context where farmers face challenges related to production costs and competitiveness in the Iberian market.
Beyond the requests regarding energy and fuel prices, Confagri emphasized the importance of reducing bureaucracy in the agricultural sector. The organization argues that the simplification of administrative processes is essential to guarantee economically viable agriculture in Portugal.
