The Government approved support of about 50 cents per kilogram of grapes that were not sold, in an attempt to help producers in the Douro region affected by the lack of a market for their production.
Casa do Douro expressed satisfaction that a solution was found, but considered that the approved support "is not ideal" to address the crisis affecting the wine sector in the region.
The organization would have preferred a distillation measure to be applied, similar to the one that had been used in 2025 to support producers in situations of excess production or marketing difficulties.
Despite the criticism of the solution found, Casa do Douro revealed accepting the support as the best that was possible to obtain given the current circumstances and the available budget constraints.
