Rock in Rio starts this Friday and promises to significantly alter the routine of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The organization expects an audience of 100 thousand people per day at Rock in Rio City, located in the West Zone, over the seven days of the event. The festival attracts not only locals from Rio but also tourists, with hotels registering an average of 77.62% occupancy during the first weekend.

To accommodate the large flow of people, a special transportation scheme was set up. BRT, subway and VLT will operate 24 hours during the event, and the train stations Central do Brasil, Madureira and Deodoro will remain open during the early morning hours. The routine changes will extend until Tuesday, resuming on the next Friday and continuing until the following Monday.

The concessionaire RioGaleão, responsible for the airport, expects to receive 643 thousand passengers during the festival period. Additionally, 62 extra flights are planned to meet the travel demand of participants. The special operation of public transportation during the early morning hours aims to facilitate access to and exit from the event for the audience.
