About six thousand people are estimated to have passed through, during the night of August 29, at the Sunset do Banho Santo, held at Praia dos Cavacos, in Moncarapacho, according to the estimate released by the Parish of Moncarapacho. The initiative sought to recover and promote the tradition of Banho Santo, associating it with a contemporary programming of music and socializing, with the objective of bringing different generations closer together and strengthening the connection to local identity.
The musical program featured performances by Fábio Palma, MIAX and Bubba Brothers, at an event that took place between 19:30 and 02:00. According to the Parish of Moncarapacho, the attendance exceeded the organization's expectations and highlighted the potential of Praia dos Cavacos to host initiatives that combine the preservation of traditions with new forms of cultural and social revitalization.
The president of the Parish of Moncarapacho, Jorge Pereira, considered that the scale of participation demonstrates the community's capacity for mobilization and the importance of finding new ways to pass on local traditions. Jorge Pereira stated that seeing thousands of people gathered at Praia dos Cavacos was the best demonstration that it is worth believing in traditions and creating new ways to transmit them to future generations.
The Parish of Moncarapacho thanked the logistical support provided by the Municipality of Olhão in preparing the venue, as well as the participation of all those who contributed to the event. The results achieved reinforce the intention to continue investing in the valorization of the parish's heritage, traditions and spaces, through initiatives that promote population participation, revitalize the territory and create new reasons for visiting.
