Candidates for governor of Rio de Janeiro visited at least 36 different cities during the first three weeks of the campaign, between August 16 and September 4. The survey was conducted by CBN based on official agendas released by the campaigns. The capital was, by far, the main destination for politicians, but the interior appeared strategically in the main campaigns.
Eduardo Paes was one of the candidates who most diversified territorial presence. In addition to a frequent agenda in the capital, the candidate visited municipalities in Baixada Fluminense, Região dos Lagos, North and South of the state, and Serrana region. Altogether, considering the days with identified in-person agendas, Paes appeared in at least 13 different municipalities during the period.
What stands out is the thematic logic of the trips. In Nova Iguaçu, the topic was public security; in Volta Redonda, employment and income; in Araruama, security; in Petrópolis, it addressed flood and landslide prevention.
