A Russian drone hit the headquarters of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) in Kiev. The device was targeting "directly the office of the head" of the intelligence services.
President Volodymyr Zelensky tasked the SBU leader with responding "symmetrically" to Russia for the attack.
The attack occurs amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides carrying out military operations against targets on enemy territory.
This is not the first attack to hit Ukrainian government installations since the beginning of the war, but targeting the leadership of the intelligence services represents a significant escalation in attempts to strike the country's military and intelligence command structure.
