The price of diesel in the United States reached a new record today of $5.85 (about five euros) per gallon, equivalent to 3.8 liters, surpassing the historical maximum recorded in 2022, according to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The new maximum comes in a context of strong rise in energy prices, which began after the United States triggered a war against Iran. Tehran retaliated through various measures, including the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, an important maritime route for the transport of hydrocarbons.
