The sole PPM deputy in the Parliament of the Azores, João Mendonça, today defended that it is urgent to provide the Azores with the necessary means to project and affirm Portugal in the Atlantic. This position was presented in the regional parliament.
João Mendonça highlighted that the Portuguese Atlantic requires, in the Azores, more means, more resources and more presence. The objective would be to affirm Portugal in this vast Atlantic space.
The parliamentarian's intervention comes at a time when, according to him, developments are being witnessed throughout the world that reinforce the strategic importance of the Atlantic region.
The PPM party, through its sole representative in the Azorean legislative assembly, thus intends to pressure for more resources to be allocated to the region for Atlantic projection purposes.
