The 28th International Book Fair of São Paulo began this Friday (4), at the Anhembi District, in the north zone of the capital of São Paulo. Considered the biggest edition in the history of the event, the fair occupies an area of 86 thousand square meters, brings together 269 exhibitors, and offers about 3.5 thousand hours of programming. The organizers expect to receive more than 700 thousand visitors until September 13.
This year's edition pays homage to Mauricio de Sousa, who turns 90 in 2026. The creator of Monica's Gang, however, has already stated that he will not participate in person at the event.
The Book Fair will feature the participation of some of the main names in contemporary Brazilian literature, including Conceição Evaristo, Raphael Montes, Itamar Vieira Junior, Paula Pimenta, and Carina Rissi. Conceição Evaristo, author of works such as "Eyes of Water," is a reference in national literature and became known for the concept of "escrevivência."
