President Lula and the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Edson Fachin, met again this Friday, for the second time in less than four days, amid a crisis at the STF involving the so-called Master case and ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça. This time, they participated together in an event at the Presidential Palace at 10am for the signing of bills that create special funds for the Federal Justice and for the Superior Court of Justice.
The attorney general of Brazil, Paulo Gonet, was also present at the event. According to the report, usually at these events the president receives the authorities beforehand in his office. The political climate is described as tense.
On the previous Thursday, President Lula published a video demanding action from Fachin and Gonet. Without naming ministers, Lula stated that there is suspicion of involvement of public agents in the Master case, criticized what he called "selective leaks," defended that everyone be investigated without shielding, and asked that institutions guarantee the integrity of the investigations.
The crisis at the Supreme Court worsened after Minister Alexandre de Moraes was mentioned in conversations related to the case, while colleague André Mendonça was responsible for conducting the internal procedure on the matter.
