Diário de Viseu4 September 2026 at 12:15

The Convento de Cristo, in Tomar, expects to reopen to the public the cloisters of Santa Bárbara, D. João III and Lavagem this month, making them fully available in the visit circuit. This reopening represents an important milestone for the city's cultural heritage.

The requalification works in these historical spaces have been advancing, allowing visitors to soon explore these areas of the monument again. The Direction of the Convento de Cristo revealed that the recovery works are almost complete.

Regarding the Terreiro de Armas, one of the most emblematic outdoor areas of the Convent, the intervention works are still ongoing. The completion of works in these areas is expected for October. The space will be integrated into the visit circuit after the interventions are finalized.

This set of reopenings is part of a broader plan for the enhancement and conservation of the Convento de Cristo, classified as UNESCO World Heritage since 1983. The enhancement of these spaces aims to dynamize the visit to the monument and contribute to the long-term preservation of this national heritage.

Five years after the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel through the Abraham Accords, military cooperation between the two countries has advanced significantly. The Israeli military industry became the second largest arms supplier to Rabat, with 24% of the market, behind only the United States (60%), according to SIPRI, replacing France in that position. The main equipment includes air defense systems, drones, radars, and precision artillery. In addition to commercial transactions, the countries signed a "joint military work plan" that includes permanent dialogue structures between the armies, joint industrial projects, and joint military maneuvers to face emerging threats.
