Olavo Câmara, president of the Porto Moniz City Council, elected by the PS, warned about the difficulties that small municipalities face in accessing European funds. The mayor spoke at the beginning of a debate on "The access of municipalities to European funds", which took place at Hotel Vila Galé, in Santa Cruz.
According to Olavo Câmara, small municipalities are at a disadvantage due to a lack of human resources, predictability, and capacity to compete on equal terms with larger entities. The mayor considered that there is an "unequal game" in access to European funds.
The president of the Porto Moniz City Council highlighted the specific difficulties of the smallest municipality in Madeira, which faces particular obstacles in attracting European funding. This situation affects the investment and development capacity of these smaller municipalities.
