The water quality of the Âncora river and Vila Praia de Âncora beach returned to the debate at the ordinary meeting of the Caminha City Council, held on September 2. The meeting came as a result of elevated microbiological contamination values detected at the end of August, which led to the discouragement of bathing activities in the area.
The origin of the contamination remains undiscovered, maintaining uncertainty about what may have caused the environmental problem in the region. During the debate, the question arose, more lightheartedly, as to whether ducks could be responsible for the pollution.
The municipality of Caminha thus faces a challenge regarding the quality of its waters, with local authorities trying to identify the source of the microbiological contamination that affected the area of the Âncora river and beach during the late summer period.
