The Évora Nucleus of the League of Combatants was present on August 24 at a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican. The meeting took place at the Holy See and was attended by representatives of the League of Combatants.
The League of Combatants delegation consisted of four members, at the invitation of the Bishop of the Armed Forces and Security, D. Sérgio Diniz. Among the representatives was the president of the Évora Nucleus, Sergeant-Chief Joaquim Santos.
The choice of the Évora leader to participate in this audience was due to the fact that the local nucleus is currently the largest in the country in terms of number of members. The article indicates that the Évora nucleus holds this prominent position nationwide.
