The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, categorically rejected that Morocco planned or facilitated the entry of tens of thousands of people into Ceuta, contradicting a police report that points to the possible collaboration of Moroccan border forces in the migratory crisis.
Sánchez admitted, however, that Moroccan authorities allowed the passage of people for a period of ten hours, which contributed to the massive entry of migrants into the Spanish city.
The crisis in Ceuta occurred when tens of thousands of people crossed the border unexpectedly, creating a humanitarian and diplomatic emergency situation between Spain and Morocco. The police report suggests that Moroccan security forces may have facilitated or at least not prevented the flow of migrants during this period.
