Quercus denounces felling of 1400 cork oaks

Aveiro TV4 September 2026 at 12:00

Quercus publicly denounced the Covilhã Municipal Council's plan to fell approximately 1400 cork oaks, including dozens of centenarian specimens, to expand the Tortosendo Industrial Park. This intervention is part of the municipality's Master Plan revision, currently in public discussion until Friday, September 4th. The affected area will also include 10 primary residences, whose owners will be expropriated.

The Israeli military industry became the second largest arms supplier to Rabat, with 24% of the market, behind only the United States (60%), according to SIPRI, replacing France in that position. The main equipment includes air defense systems, drones, radars, and precision artillery. In addition to commercial transactions, the countries signed a "joint military work plan" that includes permanent dialogue structures between the armies, joint industrial projects, and joint military maneuvers to face emerging threats.
