Lyon announces end of 'Eagle Football' era in new break with John Textor

Lyon took another step to definitively leave behind the John Textor era. In a statement released on Friday, the French club announced that the company owning the team will stop bearing the Eagle Football Group name and will become "Olympique Lyonnais Groupe". The change, which still needs to be submitted to shareholders, represents another rupture move away from the multi-ownership model implemented by the American businessman.

The decision was made by the board of directors at a meeting held on Thursday in Lyon. A general meeting is scheduled for October 16 to formally approve the change of company name. Until then, the company will already use "OL Groupe" as its trading name.

"A joint general meeting will be convened on October 16, mainly to approve the change of the company's corporate name," Lyon stated in an official statement.
