Seven events celebrating Autumn and bird migration

Wilder4 September 2026 at 11:29

Wilder presents seven events in Portugal celebrating the arrival of autumn and bird migration. Activities include courses, scientific bird ringing sessions, photographic walks, festivals and fairs, spread across various regions of the country between September and October.

The first event is an online mini-course on bird migration, on September 16, taught by Gonçalo Elias through the Microsoft Teams platform, organized by SPEA. On September 19, two activities take place: a scientific ringing session of wild birds at Gaia Biological Park in Avintes, and a photographic walk through Monsanto Forest Park in Lisbon, focused on macro photography of typical autumn elements.

The Autumn Festival by Serralves Foundation takes place on September 26 and 27, in Porto, in its 16th edition, with workshops, trails and shows. The Sagres Birdwatching Festival runs from October 2 to 5, in its 17th edition, with the highlighted species being the razorbill. Sagres is a passage point for thousands of birds during autumn migration.

In October, two more events take place: Eurobirdwatch on October 3, organized by Vertigem in Porto de Mós, which is part of a European birdwatching event; and the ObservaLagunas fair on October 17 and 18, at the Santo André and Sancha Lagoons Nature Reserve in Vila Nova de Santo André, in its 3rd edition.
