The APP Museu do Douro was distinguished with the "Gold" Usability and Accessibility Seal, a recognition that requires 100% full compliance with all applicable requirements and the completion of usability testing with real users. The project was promoted by the Fundação Museu do Douro, with technical coordination by Realizasom, and has been available since September 1st, positioning itself as a pioneer and national reference in this certification.
The Seal was developed by the Agency for State Technological Reform (ARTE) and the Institute for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (IDIPD), distinguishing projects that incorporate best practices in digital accessibility and usability. The evaluation methodology included six participants, four people with disabilities and two users without disabilities, assessing aspects such as interface clarity, navigation effectiveness, task execution and experience safety.
The application allows downloading content for offline mode, accessing information by floor or numerical code, navigating between points of interest, saving favorites and consulting content in audio, video, image and text. It also includes Quiz, social media integration and access to the museum's institutional information.
Accessibility extends to content production, with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language by Deaf interpreters and audio description validated by a consultant with visual impairment. The contents were created within the framework of the "Treasures within everyone's reach" project, with monitoring by FPAS and ACAPO. Currently, the app offers versions in English, French, Spanish and German, versions with multi-language audio description, and video versions in Portuguese Sign Language and International Sign.
