The Farmer's Festival at the Casa do Povo de Fermentões kicks off this Friday, September 4, at 9:30 PM, with a night of challenge singing. Participants include Duarte from Póvoa de Lanhoso, Adília from Arouca, José Gomes and Batista from Silvares, accompanied by musicians Rúben Araújo and André Matos.
On Saturday, the 5th, activities begin at 9:30 AM with the usual livestock parade, followed by the livestock contest and blessing. The award ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 PM and at 3:30 PM there is a horse race. In the evening, at 9:30 PM, the Largo da Casa do Povo hosts the XLVII Folk Festival, featuring the Rancho Folclórico da Casa do Povo de Fermentões, the Rancho Folclórico de Benfica do Ribatejo from Almeirim, the Grupo de Danças e Cantares de Vale Domingos from Águeda, and the Rusga Típica da Correlhã from Ponte de Lima.
On Sunday, the festivities close with a tribute mass at the Parish Church at 9:45 AM, followed at 3:30 PM by the traditional Ethnographic Parade. The program ends with an accordion gathering.
