CD Sobrado, a club in Portuguese regional football competing in the Division of Honour of the AF Porto in series 2, intends to rise again after a period of great difficulty. The article reports that the new administrative committee took over the club on July 1, 2027, with the objective of returning to the club the status of "Orgulho Sobradense" (Sobradense Pride). The newly elected president João Soares states that he found a club with "enormous discredit", without youth players and that had suffered a relegation with the senior squad, causing the club to fall "into a huge void".
In the upcoming sports season, Sobrado will play in the Division of Honour of the AF Porto, series 2, where two other teams from the same municipality of Valongo are also present: Alfenense and Campo. The matches between the teams from the municipality are scheduled for various dates throughout the season. Sobrado's first game is scheduled for September 20, when they host Crestuma at home.
The club is investing heavily in youth development, offering free kits to all children up to 10 years old and creating an academy for children from the age of 3. Regarding infrastructure, the construction of a covered stand is planned by the end of September, donated by a member with support from the municipal council, and the installation of another cover by the end of the year. João Soares states that "these are very old wishes but very important to have conditions for our members, parents and supporters".
The squad is described as very young, keeping only five players from the previous season and signing players from the local area who were at other clubs. Only one more experienced player, Vilaça, was signed to serve as a reference for the younger players. The technical team is led by coach Ângelo Varela, supported by Cayo Rodrigues and Gonçalo Ramalho as assistants, Pedro Rodrigues as goalkeeping coach, and Luís Costa as sporting director. The objectives focus on youth development and creating a team that members can be proud of.
