Vhils festival to temporarily house homeless people in AL during event

Observador4 September 2026 at 10:46

The festival organized by artist Vhils will relocate the six residents of the Marvila school, who are in a homeless situation, during the days the event takes place. The solution found by the organization consists of providing rooms to house these people temporarily.

The Marvila school is the place of residence of these six people in a situation of housing vulnerability. During the festival period, the residents will be transferred to the rooms provided by the organization.

The event organization explained that it decided to provide this alternative because it considered it made sense to offer a housing solution to the residents during the festival days. The goal is to ensure that people are not left homeless during the event.

This case arises in a context where housing and shelter for homeless people continue to be significant challenges, and where the holding of cultural events raises questions about the impact on the most vulnerable communities in the areas where they take place.
