Director Tony Gatlif, author of 'Gadjo Dilo', dies at 77

Director Tony Gatlif, author of 'Gadjo Dilo', one of his most well-known films, has died at 77. The news of his death was accompanied by tributes from figures in the cultural world.

The French Minister of Culture paid tribute to the director on social media X, describing him as someone who "had a taste for the less obvious paths, for borders that blur".

Tony Gatlif was the author of 25 films throughout his career. 'Gadjo Dilo' became one of his most internationally recognized works.
