Ukraine carried out today drone attacks on targets in the Sochi region and the nearby town of Sirius, in southern Russia. Local authorities confirmed that the infrastructure hit included a Russian oil storage base and anti-aircraft batteries.
Sochi is a Russian resort city known for its tourist and recreational infrastructure. The proximity to Sirius, a neighboring town, indicates that the attacks affected a Black Sea coastal area.
The attacks were claimed by Ukrainian forces, which have been carrying out drone operations against military and strategic targets on Russian territory throughout the conflict. This type of attack represents an escalation in Ukraine's offensive operations on Russian territory.
Russian authorities did not immediately report on possible casualties or the extent of the damage caused by the drone attacks in the two towns.
