Researchers successfully test genetic editing strategy for Machado-Joseph disease

A team of researchers from the Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra (CNC-UC) and GeneT – Centre of Excellence in Gene Therapy conducted a study on Machado-Joseph disease. The researchers successfully tested a genetic editing strategy for this neurodegenerative disease.

The study reveals new data that may contribute to the development of therapeutic approaches for Machado-Joseph disease. This disease affects the brain and motor abilities of patients.

The research represents a significant advance in the understanding of this pathology, opening prospects for future therapeutic interventions.
