The Japanese holders of Dragon Ball rights denied having authorized the construction of a theme park dedicated to the famous manga universe near Paris. Toei Animation issued a statement to the press in Japanese earlier this week clarifying that no licensing related to the project was granted.
According to the company, neither it nor any of the companies holding the intellectual property rights granted authorization for the park. The statement says the company has no knowledge of any information suggesting the existence of such a project.
On August 24, French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman jointly announced the construction of the Dragon Ball theme park in France. The news was reported by some media outlets as an already made decision, which prompted the official response from Toei Animation.
