Lawmakers and representatives from the productive sector launched the "Movimento Brasil Legal" last Tuesday in the Noble Hall of the Chamber of Deputies in Brasília. The initiative seeks to advance legislative proposals against the illegal market, which have been gaining momentum in the National Congress.
Some bills under consideration propose tougher penalties, including rules to hold intermediaries accountable in the e-commerce segment, product tracking systems, and modernization of digital oversight.
The proposals also include integrating police intelligence to strangle organized crime finances and strengthening the State's role with tools to dismantle smuggling networks.
The goal is to establish a permanent strategy of fiscal intelligence and financial suffocation of criminal organizations operating in both physical retail and the digital environment, going beyond isolated actions and street seizures.
