Augusto Cury, candidate of Avante for President of Brazil, was one of the surprises in the Quaest poll, jumping from 2% to 10% of vote intentions, overtaking Renan Santos (Missão). The growth coincides with a digital strategy that reached the female, young, and northeastern electorates on social media.
A study by political scientist Fábio Vasconcellos, professor at Uerj and PUC-Rio and researcher at the Institute for Representation and Democratic Legitimacy (ReDem) at the Federal University of Paraná, analyzed the reach of boosted ads by the campaign on Meta's social networks (Instagram and Facebook) between August 16 and September 1.
The survey shows that Cury's campaign stood out among these audiences when compared to the main opponents. The writer boosted 88 ads on Meta's networks by September 1, being the second candidate with the most ads, behind only Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), who had 218 ads.
