The newspaper O GLOBO published this week a series of interviews with the main candidates for the two Senate seats in Rio de Janeiro. Among those interviewed is Federal Deputy Carlos Jordy, from the PL party, who denies being an ally of former governor Cláudio Castro and talks about the electoral dispute on the right wing for the two seats at stake this year.
Jordy explains that the original PL ticket had Cláudio Castro and Márcio Canella as Senate candidates. When Castro withdrew, Carlos Portinho entered as a replacement. Jordy was the party's fourth option for the vacancy, but says he does not see this as a sign that the party did not believe in his chances.
The candidate says he was against the nominations of Castro and Canella, which upset a large part of right-wing voters. According to Jordy, he did not give up and did not abandon the race. He says that in the end, God honored him with the spot and that he is not a radical person, but he also does not sit on the fence.
