The Brazilian political week was marked by two distinct facts. In the electoral field, writer Augusto Cury (Avante), candidate for President of the Republic, saw his campaign make a sudden leap, now appearing only behind Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in voting intentions. In the Quaest poll released this Wednesday, Cury totaled 10% of voting intentions, eight points more than in the previous survey.
In parallel, a scandal involving banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, made headlines. Revelations of unprecedented conversations between Vorcaro and Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), showed that the banker turned to the magistrate several times while already under investigation.
The developments in the scandal led former President Lula to try to distance himself politically from Moraes. The case may have repercussions at the polls, influencing the mood of the electorate amid the presidential race.
A report by Piauí magazine revealed a report from COAF (Council for Financial Activities Control) showing that Vorcaro transferred US$ 1.6 million to the fund he managed, adding more details to the investigations into the case.
