"Venezuela says sanctions easing 'is not enough' and calls for total suspension"

Correio da Manhã4 September 2026 at 07:49

Venezuela considered that the flexibilization of sanctions imposed by the United States is not sufficient and called for the total suspension of the restrictive measures. The Venezuelan government commented on the decision made by Washington.

Washington's executive decided to relax the sanctions regime applied to strategic sectors of Venezuela. The eased measures cover the oil and mining sectors.

The Venezuelan public financial system was also included in the sanctions flexibilization. This decision represents a partial relief of the restrictions that had been imposed on the country.

Venezuela understands that the announced relief is insufficient and continues to demand the complete elimination of all sanctions weighing on the country's economy.
