The Venezuelan government considered that the flexibilization of sanctions imposed by the United States is not sufficient and called for their total suspension. Caracas reacted this way to Washington's decision to ease the sanctions regime applied to the country.
Washington flexibilized sanctions in the oil and mining sectors, as well as in the Venezuelan public financial system. This measure represents a partial relief of the economic restrictions that have been imposed on Venezuela.
