Meloni's government has become the longest-lasting in the Italian Republic, completing 1,413 consecutive days in power. This is an unusual feat of stability in a democracy known for its volatility and political turmoil.

Meloni has been in power since October 2022 and is the first woman to lead a government in Italy. She surpassed the record of Silvio Berlusconi during his second term, between 2001 and 2005.

However, Berlusconi holds the title of longest-serving prime minister, with nine years in total, although distributed across four legislatures.

The analysis is by Irene Savio, correspondent for EL PERIÓDICO in Rome.
