Moraes cites PF report saying that Mendonça acted with different criteria in Lulinha and ACM Neto cases

cbn4 September 2026 at 01:55

Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes used a Federal Police report to accuse minister André Mendonça of directing investigations against targets for personal and political motives. The document, revealed on this Thursday, has 50 pages and includes images, graphs, and excerpts of legislation.

The report points to a supposed asymmetry by political spectrum in Mendonça's decisions. According to the PF, the minister would have adopted different criteria in evaluating cases involving people of different political alignments.

The Federal Police highlights that the cases of Bahia governor candidate ACM Neto, from União Brasil, and businessman Fábio Luiz Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, the eldest son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, would have similarities but would have been evaluated in different ways by Mendonça.

The conclusions of the report were cited by Moraes in a decision in which he included Mendonça in the fake news inquiry, which investigates supposed false news against STF members and the court itself.

Opposition sees retaliation by Moraes against Mendonça after escalation of crisis at STF and revelations in Master case

The decision by Minister Alexandre de Moraes at the STF that pointed to "strong indications" of administrative improbity, abuse of authority, and crime of responsibility against his colleague André Mendonça generated criticism from the opposition, which views the measure as retaliation after the revelations in the Banco Master case. The Federal Police report with messages from banker Daniel Vorcaro exposed supposed relations between Moraes and the scheme under investigation. The Senate opposition leader, Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), stated that Moraes transformed the investigation into an instrument of "personal power" and that there is an inversion of values, since Moraes himself should provide explanations about the revealed messages, rather than using his powers against whoever is conducting the investigation.

The rumba of Jorge Carvalho

This satirical article criticizes the disorganization and lack of transparency at the Funchal City Council, led by Jorge Carvalho. Using a musical metaphor, the text denounces that essential documents, legal opinions, and explanations are missing from council meetings, yet meetings still proceed. The criticism falls especially on the chief of staff, who moved from Social Security to the council and now occupies the office, and on the apparent lack of organization that turns meetings into a "rumba" where no one knows where the necessary documents are.
