Alexandre Santos is the new Nacional coach

dnoticias.pt4 September 2026 at 00:10

Alexandre Santos, 49 years old, is the new coach of Nacional, thus replacing João Gião in the role. The hiring of the new black-and-white coach comes after days of intense speculation about who would occupy the position left by Gião.

Alexandre Santos is a former assistant to José Peseiro, having worked with him at FC Porto and Sp. Braga. His experience also includes a stint at Petro de Luanda, where he won three Angolan titles, three Angola Cups and a Super Cup.

The new coach had been at Kuwait SC since the start of the season, but ended up leaving after just one month, without even making his debut for the Kuwaiti team. This was his last professional experience before accepting the challenge at Nacional.
