The state of Rio de Janeiro will mobilize 7,680 agents for the security of Rock in Rio 2026, which will take place on September 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 13, in Barra da Tijuca. The operation includes policing, inspection, and monitoring by drones and cameras, given an expected audience of more than 700,000 people. The security scheme was announced on Friday, August 28.

The Military Police will have the largest force, with 4,500 agents, 177 vehicles, and eight observation towers. Six checkpoint points will be installed on the main access roads to the City of Rock, and the scheme will include facial recognition cameras and license plate identification systems. Policing at transportation terminals and festival access points will be reinforced with foot patrols, motorized units, and mounted police.

The Civil Police will mobilize approximately 1,700 agents, of which 725 will act inside the City of Rock, in uniform or plainclothes, focused on the prevention of thefts and robberies. Seven points for digital crime reporting will be installed at the festival, which will also have a 16th Police District facility.

Approximately 600 firefighters will operate at the City of Rock and surrounding area, with ambulances, drones, and firefighting and rescue vehicles. The Dry Law Operation will have 700 employees conducting inspections in the nearby neighborhoods and on the main access roads to the festival. The airspace over the event area will also be monitored, and drone operators who violate current regulations may be held liable.
